Chinese (Mandarin) slang
甩锅
shuǎi guō
To pass the buck — shift the blame onto someone else.
- Literally:
- 甩 to fling + 锅 wok / pot
How it's used
In slang the 锅 (“wok”) is the blame: you can 背锅 (carry the wok, take the blame) or 甩锅 (fling it onto someone else). It's used constantly about workplaces, politics and group projects. Informal and accusatory — saying someone 甩锅 means you think they're dodging responsibility.
