Chinese (Mandarin) slang

666

liù liù liù

Awesome, nice one, well played.

Literally:
Six six six — 6 (liù) sounds like 溜 (liù), “slick, skilful”

How it's used

666 started in gaming chats to cheer a slick play and is now used for anything impressive — in comments, bullet chats (弹幕) and out loud as liù liù liù. It has nothing to do with the devil in Chinese. It can also be sarcastic (“you broke it again? 666”), so tone matters. Casual only.

Examples

  • 这波操作666!

Zhè bō cāozuò liù liù liù!

    That play was sick!

Nǐ yí ge rén gǎodìng le zhěnggè xiàngmù? Liù liù liù a.

You handled the whole project by yourself? Respect.
